Some Beach!

The day started off right! I head to the gym and got a good work out in. Then I had brunch at Crackerbarrel with Krystina and Julie, and it was delicious. However, the whole time I was thinking, holy crap! I'm soo behind on everything.

Today some guy stopped his SUV, honked, and flipped me off. I'm sorry sir, but I was stopped for about 2 seconds before you honked. I saw you and was not about to T-Bone you. Get off your Adderall that you're probably taking illegally. It's making you hyper sensitive and alert. I don't appreciate your rudeness. However, I was very amused when I noticed "Some Beach" was playing on my radio during this incident.

I watched a video about grieving in the class I am observing, because I will be teaching it next semester. It was great, and I'm def. going to use it in my class- even if I did cry throughout the whole video.

I have a meeting with my professor on Monday about my proposal, which I have a week to finish, and I have yet to get a good start. argh!... How did I get so behind? I feel like I all do is schooool work!

This internship I heard about seems very interesting and like a great opportunity, so I updated my resume today.

I watched the episode on The Challenge Cutthroat that I missed, and I'm sad to see Camilia go home!

Then the graded resumed from yesterday.... I'm still grading, but I'm on break right now.

Went to class, and find out our final isn't optional.... sooo now I gotta get caught up on 2 books. Yep, that's what I get for assuming, although IDK when I would have read them anyway.

I have 7 more tests to grade, and I feel exhausted, I think I'm going to sleep, and I'll finish in the morning!!

SOME BEACH! I get to see the new HP tomorrow!!! WOOO HOO!

P.S. Sorry if there are a million typos... I didn't proof read this tonight!

Motivation

I don't know if you know this or not, but Friday the new Harry Potter movie comes out, and I cannot be any more excited!!! I can't wait!!
Sooo... What did I do today?
1. Cleaned out my Email. It always seems to get full. Hopefully I cleaned out enough this time.
2. Taught class... it felt like I went through a time warp and was in high school today. Hopefully I did okay.
3. I had lunch at the Root Cellar. Thanks Lynn for this great idea! It is so much cheaper at lunch, and it is just as yummy!
4. Tried to make some progress on my literature review and graded tests.
5. I heard about an interesting internship, and I think I might just apply for it!
6. PLUCKERS!! I had fun with the Gammans and our MotherPluckers!
7. Watched 16 and Pregnant.
8. Continued to try to make more progress on the never ending Lit Review.

I need motivation to start working out and exercising again. Why don't I go get on the treadmill for 45 minutes instead of wasting it watching 16 and Pregnant. I am super busy, but really, I HAVE to make time to work out! I can feel my arteries clogging. Not really, but I wanna be healthier!... Operation time management is underway!

I'm excited to be in CC for Thanksgiving!! 5 Days to go!!

Typical Tuesday

If you asked me how my day was, I'd say average. People in San Marcos, need a a tutorial on the rules of a 4-way stop. I realize, a 5-way stop adds one more car in the mix, but the same rules apply. There is this 5 way-stop by my house, and today a stupid SUV rolled through it. If I didn't have such great defensive driving skills, I would have been T-Boned! I was there first, therefore I go before you. Stop and wait for me to go. K. Thanks.

I had lunch at Which Wich today, and when I got out of my car I found a scary critter on my window, and it stayed there for quite some time! I wanted to upload videos of it, but it's not letting me. :( Anywho, I sent the videos to Travis and this is what he had to say:
I think he was concerned... ;-)

When I got to the office, I caught up on Emails, and then I went to observe the 3321 class. Today they were covering my FAVORITE topic... Sexuality Education. Since the students in this class are elementary teachers, rather than health students it was interesting to hear their questions and concerns. Texas is just sooo ridiculously conservative about sexuality education, which is why we have the third highest teen birth rate in America. Maybe one day it won't be this way!

I spent the rest of my day working on my Leadership Philosophy Paper. I hope I do okay on it. I found it difficult to create a leadership philosophy, because I'm still so young, and I feel like I'm still learning and emerging into a leader. We'll see how it goes.

Lastly, I just want everyone to know, that I am really pissed off at the cashier at H.E.B. for not carding me today when I bought a case of beer. I mean really, I do not look that old!

Catching Up

I can't believe I have not been blogging about my life in graduate school. I've been so busy; I have not blogged in over a year, so it's time to get back into it! This blog is a quick snapshot of how I got here... My entries will get more fun after this!

Let's see here, I graduated last May. I'm not exactly sure why we called it graduation... I feel like my education has just begun! Never the less, I walked the stage, got nice graduation gifts, partied, partied, partied some more, and enjoyed the rest of May.

Graduate school started immediately (June 2010)! I took the Foundations of Public Health Class with Dr. Furney. It was a fun laid back class I really enjoyed. I spent the rest of summer working as the Health Education Assistant at the Student Health Center. It was so much fun, and I miss everyone there! My other days were spent floating the river with my friends and just enjoying myself. I went to Fiesta Texas and Six Flags Over Texas this summer. Roller coasters are so fun! Needless to say, the month of July ended all too quickly!

I became one of the Graduate Assistants for the department in September. This semester I spent observing classes, because I get to teach in the Spring! I do projects and help out with grading and anything else they need. I'm also president of our chapter of Eta Sigma Gamma at Texas State. (Health Education Honorary) We've been busy this year, and I'm so proud of our accomplishments! School keeps me very very occupied. This week I had article assessments due yesterday, a test tomorrow, and a paper due Thursday. My poor literature review needs to get done. I'm taking, Research and Literature, Adolescent Health, and Leadership in Health Education. I never thought nine hours of school would take up so much time! I'm learning a lot, but I found my first gray hair this year... Yeah it's stressful. But, hey I've only had one break down, where I cried and said I'm too dumb for this. (I know, I know I can be dramatic) Somehow, some way, I'll get it all done. It may mean no sleep until December 15th though... I wish I would have started this blog sooner, but I still have a year to go! Let's see how life is a graduate student....
